If the dope if too thick you won't be able to mix in as much talc. And finally pour in small spoonfuls of talc and stir. Keep adding talc it gets to a thick but still easily spread brushing consistency where it doesn't lump up or "roll" along the surface. For applying this mixture you can't work it much at all.
I know that mixing talc with gel can make a good filler, but I am wondering if talc mixed with epoxy resin would work also. I'm already using a bunch of epoxy on my boat, but now I have the hull flipped and am going to start blue it, adding a pad, etc.... I am wondering if the talc/resin mixture would work well for sharpening the strakes …

Cute! ok, here's a few tips that may get you out of your funk. I recently covered my little tomboy in 00 silkspan and it was a cinch. Here's my way: 1. coat the frame in 2-3 coats of thinned dope, sanding in between. This provides a 'glue' under the tissue to activate when you stick everything down. 2.
Open Pit Mining: Most talc is mined today by conventional open-pit, drill-and-blast, shovel-and-truck techniques. The major difference from conventional technology is that blasting …
I should add, Huge seed takes much more talc to keep the seed flowing in a vacuum planter. As in, dump the 1/2 unit in, add talc and stir, add the second 1/2 unit, add talc and stir. No experience with this in a finger pickup planter. I am going to say, do the same mixing method with the FPU planter. Otherwise the seed will bridge over and quit ...

This formula uses acrylic varnish not polyurethane. Talc (sorry for the misspelling earlier) is a lot cheaper here than the micro-balloon sold at the hobby shop. You wrote what you use but did not compare its characteristics and its usage as a filler. Proportions of mixing, paste thickness, weight comparison for same consistency, etc . . . Any one else can help ? Much appreciated. Zor
I think Precision Planting guys recommend about 1/4 cup (=2 oz) per 80K kernels. Slightly less for larger seeds. Here is from their site: This special blend of talc and graphite improves seed loading and seed release – and that improves seed spacing. eFlow improves the flow of seed from the hopper to the meter.
Forum Rules. I read somewhere that a person can add talcum powder to oil based polyurethane as a flattening agent. I was wondering if this was a bad idea.
