In the present work, barium sulfate particles were produced by discontinuous precipitation in a stirred tank reactor. Particle sizes of less than 100 nm were achieved. Particle size distributions strongly depend on the mechanical mixing and the molar ratio of the reactants as well as on the stabilization of the particles in the suspension.
Barium sulfate (or sulphate) is the inorganic compound with the chemical formula BaSO4. It is a white crystalline solid that is odorless and insoluble in water. It occurs as the mineral barite, which is the main commercial source of barium and materials prepared from it. Its opaque white appearance and its high density are exploited in its main applications.

Hint: In chemistry, reactions are basically formation of new compounds from reacting certain elements or compounds and these new compounds exhibit different properties distinct from the original compounds. The reactants are the original compounds and the new formed compounds are called products. To represent it we have a standard …

Barium sulfate is a soft crystalline solid. It is a rhombic crystal. The pure salt is white but the color of the mineral "barite" can vary between red, yellow, gray or green, depending on impurities. Its density is 4.50 g/cm 3 and its refractive index is 1.64. It melts around 1580 °C but decomposes above 1600 °C.
The kinetics of barium sulfate precipitation process mainly consists of the nucleation rate and the growth rate, which are the key factors in the precipitation process. Different kinetic correlations have been used in numerical investigations, but the effect of the kinetics on the simulation results is still an open question. On the other
Barium sulfate is a chemically inert, high density mineral with a low surface area and is also a radiopaque agent. These characteristics make barite a perfect, high-performance filler for many applications including coatings, TiO2 extension, industrial, and X-ray contrast applications. Cimbar supplies calcium carbonate as a fine white powder or ...
Barium Sulfate (BaSO₄), otherwise known as Blanc Fixe, is a heavy, white insoluble powder that is odorless and tasteless. It has a strong ability for absorbing X-rays, with X-rays being impermeable to it. Purity 92.0% to 99.0%. …
BaSolv™ is best applied as a 1:1 dilution with fresh water to Barium Sulfate deposits for maximum penetration and barium loading. Reaction rate will increase at higher temperatures and with agitation (circulation thru perforations). Squeezes are effective in removal of Barium Sulfate scale deposits from the near well bore area.
The precipitation of barium sulfate can lead to reduction in permeability and production loss. Coreflood experiments were performed to investigate barium sulfate …
Metadata. The performance of barium sulphate oilfield scale inhibitors (SIs) is affected by a number of factors, including temperature, pH and brine composition. This thesis focuses mainly on the effect of varying brine composition – in particular, Ca2+ and Mg2+ divalent cations on SI inhibition efficiency (IE) and minimum inhibitor ...

Step 4: Substitute Coefficients and Verify Result. Count the number of atoms of each element on each side of the equation and verify that all elements and electrons (if there are charges/ions) are balanced. Since there is an equal number of each element in the reactants and products of Ba (NO3)2 + K2SO4 = BaSO4 + 2KNO3, the equation is …
barium sulfate and barium chromate. An experiment using 133Ba tracer showed about 0.04% of the total barium was lost in the sodium carbonate filtrate, and about 0.06% was lost in the chromate filtrate. Atomic absorption analysis for barium in the chromate filtrate also showed less than a 0.1% loss of barium. Thus total barium losses
If barium and sulfate ions come into contact, the sparely soluble salt barium sulfate is formed according to: Ba2 SO24 → BaS O4 # (1) The concentrations of the reactant solutions were varied from c = 0.01–0.5 mol/L. Thus, it was possible to study a wide range of initial supersaturations (Sc ≈ 500 up to Sc ≈ 25000).
